Industrial control – new horizons for business

Industrial control (OT – Operational Technology) is another innovative field TRONIX engineers work in. For years, OT systems designed to manage physical processes have been used in many areas: mining, logistics, manufacturing and industry in the broad sense. Today they are closely integrated with IT systems, and industrial control is finding its way into further branches of business. This convergence brings not only new ways of applying OT technology in practice, but also the challenge of integrating the individual elements of the whole system and maintaining network security.

The energy sector uses two types of systems – information and communication (ICT) systems and industrial control (OT) systems. The part of the infrastructure that serves citizens relies mainly on ICT solutions. ICT in the energy sector is a very broad term covering various applications, including energy business management (IT) and applications for the technical control of network operations. Industrial control (OT), in turn, is reserved for industrial process control systems.
